Introduction

National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Leh & Kargil (formerly DOEACC) is a premier IT-HRD organization setup by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India in collaboration with LAHDC Leh in November 2013. It functions as a regional centre of NIELIT, New Delhi.

Location:

  1. Its main campus is located in the Council Secretariat Complex, Leh Ladakh-194101 on a built-up area of 20000 sq.ft.
  2. The extension Centre NIELIT Sub Centre Kargil is established in 2020  at DIET Building, Zanaskar Road, Chutukh Kargil with a built-up area of 10000 sq. ft.

  • Course on Computer Concepts

  1. Achievements since its inception (November 2013):
  • Establishment of Lab-cum-Smart Classroom
    • Established over 100 Smart Classrooms under RMSA & SSA in Ladakh.
  • Trainings:
    • Trained over 10300 candidates in the field of IECT.
    • Started BCA in collaboration with University of Kashmir and University of Ladakh.
  • Computer based assessment test for recruitment:
    • Computer based assessment test of over 1500 candidates for recruitment to different posts on behalf of LAHDSSRB recruitment as well as for in house promotions of various departments.
    • Computer based assessment test of round 300 candidates for UT Ladakh
  • Capacity Building & Skill Development:
    • Around 64 candidates were skilled trained in RACW, Home Appliance Repairing, CCTV repaiing, PC Hardware Repairing & Maintenance through Electronics System Design & Maintenance (ESDM) project.
    • Around 330 teachers have been trained on e-Learning of Smart Classroom Technology and Basic Computer Literacy course of NIELIT.
    • Around 75 Gazetted/Non-Gazetted officials have been trained under IT Literacy Programme of NIELIT.
    • Trained 21 probationary sub-inspectors and around 15 officials of Ladakh Police.
    • Around 198 Panchayat Raj functionaries were trained by NIELIT.
  • Consultancy / Services
    • Designed and developed   LAHDC SSRB recruitment portal for Department of Employment Leh.
    • Development of online permit portal for Domestic/ Foreign Tourists for travel in Ladakh region.
    • Designed and developed website for SOWA RIGPA Leh.
  1. Undergoing Projects
  • IT Enabled Incubation Centre for Handicraft and Handloom Sector (Project cost - 708.39 lacs).
    • The project is sponsored by MeitY, Govt of India and is being implemented by NIELIT Leh in collaboration with Department of Information Technology, UT Ladakh. The aim & objective of the project is to equip local Artisans with State-of-the-Art technologies in the field of ICT, Packaging, Entrepreneurship, Digital Marketing and Soft Skills.
    •  The training is a livelihood enhancement program through digital empowerment for the Artisans in Handloom and Handicraft sector in Ladakh. Under this project over 2100 Artisans would be empowered with new technology. 
  • Science Technology and Innovation Hub (STI Hub) Ladakh (Project cost - Rs. 250 lacs).
    • The STI Hub is setup to facilitate economic development by nurturing and developing innovators to enhable them to establish small, medium - business enterprises.
    • The STI Hub will benefit Rural/Tribal youth at the level of under-graduation/graduation/Post graduation and trainers through various skill development programs.
    • STI Hub will provide digital healthcare facilities to the people of Ladakh during winters through telemedicine.
