NIELIT, Gangtok starts Training of Sikkim Govt. employees on IT and Digital Services

National Institute of Electronics & IT (NIELIT) - Gangtok, the training arm of Ministry of Electronics and IT, Govt. of India has started the first batch of training of Sikkim Govt. employees on IT and Digital Services from today at it’s premises located at Sichey, Gangtok. The training is being conducted under the DoNER sponsored project for training 50,000 state government personnel of all 8(eight) north eastern states on IT & Digital Services over a period of 3 years.

 

Initially 133 nos. Sikkim Government employees would be trained by NIELIT, Gangtok in Sikkim with a target of training 667 nos. employees in 3 years. The training is of 14 full days and RMDD, Govt. of Sikkim has nominated 32 nos. staffs for the first batch. Department of Information Technology, Govt. of Sikkim which conducts capacity building programs through NIELIT,Gangtok too is coordinating with DoPART, Govt. of Sikkim for inviting nominations from the departments of Sikkim Government with an objective to digitally empower the employees of Sikkim Government through such training programs.

The training program was inaugurated today by Shri. Kapil Kumar Basnet, Secretary, DoPART/PRC, Government of Sikkim who encouraged the participants to take full advantage of the training program being organized by the Govt. of India institute. He mentioned that NIELIT, Gangtok has been conducting training programs for Sikkim Government employees regularly from time to time on various customized courses as per the demand of Sikkim Govt. as well as the standardized courses of NIELIT such as NIELIT BCC and CCC which has benefitted a lot of employees.

Shri Khagendra Sharma, Scientist-C from NIELIT, Gangtok gave an overview of the training program and the initiatives being taken by Ministry of DoNER, Govt. of India for capacity building of employees from North Eastern Region through NIELIT. Shri. Prem Ashis Pradhan, Assistant Director, DIT, Government of Sikkim too was present during the inauguration.

The training would be beneficial to all categories of employees who need to work on Computers/Internet/Digital Payments as well as officials who need to collaborate/communicate with others as informed by NIELIT, Gangtok. Additional topics such as GST, soft skills, e-Governance services, etc too are being covered during the training in addition to the standard NIELIT Course on Computer Concepts (CCC). It was also informed by NIELIT, Gangtok that biometric attendance system is being recorded for each day of training to ensure proper attendance.
