TECHNOVATE 3.0: Startup Competition

The National Institute of Electronics And Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima, concluded its start-up pitching competition themed ‘TECHNOVATE 3.0’ on November 4, aiming to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Nagaland.

Organised at the NIELIT Kohima auditorium in Collaboration with Startup Nagaland and the department of Industries and commerce, the event drew 23 Startups from across the state, with 10 Shortlisted to pitch their ideas before a panel of Judges.

The competition was won by Naga Toons, which received a cash prize of INR 60,000. TechiCynics finished second and received a cash prize of INR 40,000, while Unimestudio finished third and received a cash prize of INR 20,000. Two teams, GigLogics and Diverse, received consolation prize of INR 10,000 each. Startup Nagaland sponsored the event’s grand prize.

Speaking on the occasion, Director of NIELIT Kohima L Lanuwabang emphasised the organisation’s commitment to promoting collaboration, Innovation and industry growth, while chief guest, Dr M M Tripathi, Director General of NIELIT, appreciated and congratulated the department of Industries and Commerce for taking various initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and startup culture in the state.

Speaking virtually Tripathi praised NIELIT Kohima for organising the event and encouraged young people to use innovation to create economic opportunities, adding that even small ideas can lead to new journeys.

He expressed a desire for Nagaland to achieve excellence in three areas: Cyber Security, generative AI, and drone technologies, citing their importance to the State.

Following the Pitching competition, Anubhav Tiwari, Chief evangelist at Questbook (CreatorOS Inc.), led a workshop in which he shared his expertise and innovative insights into launching a successful start-up.

He engaged participants from all North-eastern states as well as students and NIELIT officials, offering mentorship and support to upcoming Startups.

Abishek Mishra, Additional Director, Software Technology Parks of India, and a panel member for the competition, emphasised the importance of collaboration efforts in nurturing start-ups in the region.

T Lemnaon Wangsha, Joint Director of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, delivered a valedictory address and highlighted the department’s various initiatives to support start-ups in the state. She also awarded prizes to the winners of the event.
