Preamble

‘Mapping of human resources skills for the electronics manufacturing industry in India’ report prepared by Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT) as entrusted by Department of Information Technology, specifies the following recommendations:

Ø  National/Regional Centre of Excellence for Design and Development skills

Ø  Creating appropriate Infrastructure to train people

Ø  Opening Engineering Finishing Schools for technical graduates

Ø  Imparting Specialized training for Emerging High Technology manufacturing

Ø  Capacity Creation and curriculum update in Technical Education

Ø  Introducing Short Term Courses

Ø  Improve skills for contract manufacturing and assembly operations

Ø  Inculcate simple assembly/related skills and shop floor ethics at grass root level

Key Objectives

                The major objective of the project is to undertake the following activities jointly by  NIELIT Aurangabad, NIELIT Chennai and C-DAC Hyderabad for upgrading the competence in Electronics Design and Production Technologies:

*      Develop human Resource at various levels including Certificate, Diploma, Post Graduate, and Research Professionals with adequate competence levels

*      To launch short term / long term modular non formal courses in selected areas of specialization

*      Upgrade the competence of working professional in Indian Industries

*      Upgrade the knowledge and skills of faculty of technical institutions necessitating from high obsolescence of this area

The project also envisages to promote affordable Electronics Design & Technology, Design Consultancy, Product Development & Technical support services, Entrepreneurial development etc.
