NIELIT is implementing a joint scheme of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Department of Electronics and Information Technology (formerly Department of Electronics (DOE)), Government of India. NIELIT, Gangtok is currently implementing this joint scheme in IT Applications by providing NIELIT ‘O’ and ‘A’ level courses in IT Application. In addition to this, NIELIT ‘O’ level in Multimedia and Animation Technology (MAT - O Level) too is being implemented by NEILIT, Gangtok. Apart from these long term courses, other education services provided by NIELIT, Gangtok includes the following:

• Basic Computer Course (BCC)
• Course on Computer Concepts (CCC)
• Financial Accounting (FA)
• Interactive Multimedia Development
• Internet and Web Page Design
• Hardware and Networking
• PC Hardware Maintenance
• Mobile Repairing
• Repair and Maintenance of Computer Electronics

The objective of NIELIT scheme is to develop quality manpower in IT by utilizing the expertise available with the computer training institutes who are granted accreditation for conducting specified levels of courses such as BCC and CCC, subject to their meeting well-defined norms and criteria. Students undergoing courses like BCC and CCC from accredited institutes will have to appear for the National Level Examination conducted by NIELIT. As such Sikkim Government has made NIELIT BCC course mandatory for all recruitment purposes and to facilitate this, NIELIT, Gangtok has been conducting the National Level Examinations in BCC and CCC from time to time.
