Genesis of the Scheme :
Virtually in every home and offices Computers & Mobiles are playing a significant role. The latest generation is completely dependent on them for managing their day to day activity. However, there is wide gap of trained Hardware professional available and requirements of Service Engineer. As per the study conducted by Manufacturer’s Association for Information Technology (MAIT) in 2010 it was estimated that the computer hardware professionals required by the year 2010 will be 2.4 million. In order to bridge this wide gap Computer Hardware & Maintenance (CHM) courses were launched by NIELIT in the year 2006. The curriculum of courses was designed by an Expert Committee under the chairmanship of HoD, Deptt. of Computer Science, IIT-Delhi and representatives of leading hardware industries such as HCL, Infosystems, IBM, Wipro Technologies and MAIT.
