A nationwide campaign has been initiated by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Govt of India. Hon’ble Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad had inaugurated the campaign in presence of Smt. Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, MeitY and other dignitaries on 04.03.2017 at the Scope Convention Centre, New Delhi.
National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Kolkata organized a Regional Workshop at the IICB Auditorium, Jadavpur, Kolkata on 20th April, 2017 towards empowering small and medium business sector / traders with digital payment facilities introduced by Govt of India.
As the Education and Training arm of MeitY, NIELIT is mandated to organize Regional Workshop at 5 locations across the country at Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. Also, NIELIT will organize 30 state level workshops and 100 Digidhan Camps to make aware the public at large about the simplified digital payment mechanisms like UPI, USSD, BBPS, AEPS, BHIM etc. in a convenient manner, which would contribute towards establishing digital economy and convey the benefits of digital payments to traders through capacity building programs. The objective of the mission is to target and empower about 13500 small and medium unorganized / self organized businesses/ traders with cashless transaction.
The workshop was co-organized by NIELIT Kolkata and the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).
Over 150 traders/ businessmen and banking officials attended the day-long workshop.
