NIELIT Tura extension centre (EC) is an upcoming training facility in Meghalaya which started its initial operations in January 2016 from  Tura Government College, Hawakhana, Tura - 794001. The NIELIT Tura extension centre of NIELIT Shillong is being sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India (GOI) under the NE Upgradation Project titled “Development of North-Eastern Region by enhancing the Training/ Education capacity in the IECT area”. Currently short term courses like BCC (Basic Computer Course), CCC (Course on Computer Concepts), PC H/w Networking and maintenance, Computerized Accounting with Tally and long term course 'O' Level in IT (Software) in the field of IT and Electronics  has been started for the youths of this region of the state. The  new training facility of NIELIT Tura EC has started from built up space provided by the Government of Meghalaya at Dakopgre, Tura. The space has enough room to house 3 Computer Labs, 3 Classrooms, beside office space and other amenities. It is able to accommodate at least 150 students at a time. The EC is having state of the art infrastructure, internet connectivity, library with adequate books, magazines & Journals related to IT and Electronics. The Government of Meghalaya has also provided land at Cherangre, Tura for permanent building of the extension centre which will further augment training capabilities in Tura.
