NIELIT has been assigned the responsibility of organizing Digidhan workshops, camps for on-boarding of self-organized small and medium businesses/traders on digital payment initiatives by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
The State-level Digidhan workshop organized successfully at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh on 15th May, 2017 by NIELIT Chandigarh. The objective of this workshop was to understand and adopt simplified digital payment mechanisms like UPI, USSD, BHIM etc.in a convenient manner, which would contribute towards establishing digital economy and conveying the benefits of digital payments to traders through capacity building programmes.
Dr.Mahendra Mohan Sharma, Executive Director, NIELIT Chandigarh Centre, outlined the details of the programme for training of traders on digital payment initiatives and stressed upon the need to understand and adopt simplified digital payment mechanisms. The traders association of Shimla appreciated the workshop and pledged for the activities pertaining to promotion of Digital Transactions including Digital Payments. On successful completion of the training programme, the traders were also issued a certificate of participation by NIELIT.
