Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) Govt. of India, has initiated the project entitled 'Capacity building in the areas of Electronics Product Design and Production Technology' which is being implemented by NIELIT Aurangabad, NIELIT Chennai and C-DAC Hyderabad, to carry out manpower development, promote affordable electronics design, R&D and Industrial Services in the area of Electronic Product Design and Production technology. In the instant initiative, the ISEA project and the SMDP I & II project structures have being taken as a model to bring in the erstwhile CEDT – NIELIT Aurangabad as Resource Centre (RC) to act as a mentor for C-DAC Hyderabad & NIELIT Chennai as the Participating Institutions (PI) to jointly generate quality manpower.

In order to generate quality human resources at various levels, the Centres have initiated various formal and non-formal programs. Towards this direction, NIELIT Aurangabad has launched MTech (Part time) in Electronic Product Design (EPD) for the academic year 2013-14 with the affiliation of Dr. BAM University. Academic Year 2015-16 onwards, NIELIT Chennai & C-DAC Hyderabad has launched M Tech (Full Time) in Electronics Design Technology in collaboration with SCSVMV University, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. NIELIT Aurangabad has also launched B.Tech (Full time) in association with Dr. BAM University. With a vision to bridge the gap between academia & industry, the Centres have launched various modular Short Term (6 weeks) and six months PG Diploma programs. These courses in Electronic Product Design, Embedded System Design, Electronic Packaging, Wireless Embedded Systems etc. were prepared under the guidance of experts from Industry, Industry Association and eminent academicians, and being conducted successfully.
