About ARVR

Introduction

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are revolutionizing how we interact with digital content by blending the physical and digital worlds. These immersive technologies are transforming industries such as education, healthcare, gaming, retail, and manufacturing. This specialized training program is designed to equip learners with the skills and tools needed to design, develop, and deploy immersive AR/VR applications.

The program is offered in three tailored formats:

  • GOT – Basic: Ideal for beginners exploring immersive tech
  • GOT – Advanced: For learners with prior tech experience
  • Bootcamp: A rapid, intensive upskilling path

All formats combine theoretical learning with hands-on labs, real-world use cases, and a capstone project.

History

The AR/VR training initiative under FutureSkills PRIME, launched by MeitY, aims to prepare government officials, students, and professionals for the immersive technology revolution.

Hundreds of learners have transitioned into roles such as:

  • AR/VR Developer
  • XR Designer
  • Simulation Engineer
  • Unity/Unreal Developer
  • Immersive Tech Consultant

The curriculum is constantly updated to include the latest in spatial computing, gesture recognition, 3D modeling, and AR cloud technologies.

Program Objectives

  • Understand the core concepts of AR and VR technologies
  • Gain proficiency in leading AR/VR development platforms (Unity, Vuforia)
  • Design 3D environments and develop immersive experiences
  • Deploy AR/VR applications across various devices (mobile, headset, web)
  • Apply immersive tech in industry-specific use cases

Expected Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Build AR/VR applications using Unity and C#
  • Integrate Vuforia, WebXR for device compatibility
  • Create 3D models, animations, and spatial UI
  • Simulate environments for training, marketing, or education
  • Showcase skills through a capstone project and portfolio

Prerequisites

  • Basic programming knowledge (preferably in C# or JavaScript)
  • Familiarity with 3D tools (Blender, Maya) is helpful
  • Awareness of user interaction design principles
