INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT) INITIATIVES

Embedded System Group , NIELIT Calicut has developed an IoT Enabled Smart Lighting or so called "connected bulbs" prototype, and was installed and inaugurated by the Executive Director, Dr. M.P. Pillai on 1, June 2016.

Smart Lighting is the use of IoT to achieve energy efficiency and maintenance. For lighting, this essentially means connecting luminaires and control systems to the Internet, and by default to one another and potentially other building systems. In the prototype the IoT networking protocols and IoT Cloud analytic features also added. The new Smart cabin's lights and Fan can be controlled online any time, also the current light's ON/OFF status will be available online.

A Team of Expert from Headquarters visited for evaluating the NIELIT Calicut Centre's expertise in the area of Internet of things and projects like Smart Lighting Control, Smart Dustbin, Smart Farming were demonstrated.
