SW304 – Diploma in PHP Programming (Online Course)

Course Preamble

PHP is a popular open-source technology extremely powerful for developing dynamically generated database-driven Web applications quickly. PHP is a server-side scripting language embedded into an HTML source. Some important factors driving PHP’s popularity are an extensible architecture that encourages innovation, support for both current and upcoming technologies and protocols, and excellent database integration, its support for a variety of databases, enabling developers to build complex data driven web applications while enjoying short development cycles. PHP is now installed on more than 244 million websites and 2.1 million web servers.

Course Objective

This Online course will empower individuals to learn PHP within the comfort of their home/office. This course is intended for students/working professionals who want to become experts in PHP Programming without affecting their study/work. The participants need not have to visit or stay in the campus for attending the course.

Course Outcome

After undergoing this course the participants will be able to develop Web applications using PHP and MySQL

HTML, Javascript

HTML, JavaScript – Control statements, functions, arrays, objects, events.

PHP Language

Introduction Why PHP, History, PHP & HTML, Installation, PHP Syntax, Variables Constants, Simple Types, Operators, Control Structure.PHP Functions – Syntax, Arguments, Variables, References, Returns, Variable Scope. PHP Arrays – Creating, retrieving , iterating Exception Handling in PHP -Try catch. PHP String Manipulation – Interpolation, Characters and string indexes, String operators, Concatenation and assignment, String Functions. Objects , Namespaces – PHP forms – Building Forms from Queries, Handling Get, Post methods with PHP – Using cookies in PHP, Session Management using PHP, PHP & XML , XML, DTD, DOM XML API , PHP & AJAX Files & Streams – Working with files and directories, Uploading files, Working with Streams

MySQL & PHP

SQL, MySQL Admin, PHP/MySQL Functions – PHP Database – Displaying Queries in Tables.

Project

During the project period, students should develop a software in any of the areas covered in the course, under the guidance of the faculty. Students can take up relevant projects from the industry.

Course Fees

General Candidates: Rs. 7000 + Service Tax at actuals= Rs. 7980. They need to pay this during the time of initial registration. If anyone is not selected, the amount will be refunded.

SC/ST Students: Rs. 1800. They need to pay this during the time of initial registration. This is a security deposit only. They should submit duly filled up concession form and other documents as mentioned in the course brochure. The security deposit is refundable on successful completion of the course

Eligibility

Basic eligibility is BE/B.Tech/M.Sc/MCA/BCA/Diploma/Graduation in any discipline. Students undergoing the course can also apply. Knowledge of any one programming language like C/C++/Java is a prerequisite to attend the course.
