Model Career Centre
INTRODUCTION
The National Career Service (NCS) project envisaged setting up of 100 Model Career Centres (MCCs) in collaboration with various States/UTs and Private Institutions to deliver employment services during the 12th Five Year Plan. The NCS Portal is India’s largest employment platform for bringing people and opportunities together.
The objective of a Model Career Centre is to link the youth with jobs and career opportunities through counselling and training. A Model Career Centre assists job seekers with all employment-related information ranging from career counselling to apprenticeship and job opportunities, through self-assessments & insights, thereby helping them make the right career choices. It acts as a platform for all stakeholders i.e. Employers, Jobseekers, Counsellors, Local Service Providers, Skill Providers and Government Departments to come together and connect with each other to meet their requirements. Being a reservoir of skilled talent pool, a Model Career Centre is an avenue for the Industry to tap in from and form a seamless employer-employee connect. Today there are around 107 MCCs across the country.
The Model Career Centres are intended to be the role model for replication of career related services. For supporting the professional assistance requirement, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has launched a scheme for Young Professionals to be deputed to these Model Career Centres to facilitate the integration and institutionalization of new processes. They also coordinate outreach activities in schools/colleges and conduct job-fairs including interaction with academia, local industry, manufacturing associations, training providers and other stakeholders.

MODEL CAREER CENTRE AT NIELIT:
The Model Career Centre at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) was established on June 9th 2015 and was the first one to be setup in India.

- National Career Service and Model Career Centre Awareness Sessions
So far, the Model Career Centre at NIELIT has successfully organized a total of seven job fairs, including five Mega Job Fairs and five in collaboration with the NCS centre for SC/STs, Trivandrum.
