Fresh Registration

Q. Why a candidate is required to register with NIELIT? 
A. Registration is a mandatory pre-requisite for appearing in the O/A/B/C level Examinations conducted by the NIELIT.

Q. Can a candidate register for more than one level at a time?
A. No, at any point of time, a candidate can hold a valid registration, for one Level only.

Q. How can a candidate get registered with the NIELIT?

·  Click on ‘Apply Online’ at http://student.nielit.gov.in

·  Select the Certificate Course ‘O/A’/B/C’

·  Fill Registration Application Form

·  Upload your Photograph, Signature and Thumb Impression

·  Submit Registration Form

·  Note down Unique Application No.

·  Take Print Out of Application Form for future use

·  Pay Registration Fess through Online Payment Option (CSC-SPV, NEFT/RTGS, Online)(if payment option selected is ‘Candidate directly to NIELIT’)

For institute Candidate:

  • Follow steps from 1-7 as above of Direct Candidates.
  • Payment option: ‘Candidate directly to NIELIT’
  • Pay Registration Fess through Online Payment Option for one or multiple candidates

‘Accredited Institute’

  • Institute will verify the candidates by selecting one Level using their login id and passwords.
  • Pay Registration Fess through Online Payment Option for one or multiple candidates (if payment option selected is ‘Accredited Institute’)
  • Online dispatch the registration application forms to NIELIT

Q. What are the documents to be attached with registration form?
A. No Need to send the documents. We have provided the declaration for the candidates that if candidate filled any wrong/inaccurate information in Online Registration Application form then candidate will be responsible for further legal or other consequences.

Q. How do I check the status of my Registration Application to any course?
A. Registration application status can be checked in the online student Portal http://student.nielit.gov.in by supplying the Registration Application No. received during the filling up the Online Registration Application Form (ORAF)

Q. do get select my accredited institute while filling-up of Online Registration Application Form?
A. While filling the Online Registration Application Form, the list of valid accredited institutes are available in the online form, the student can select the appropriate accredited institute from the list.

Q. What are the steps to be followed while filling up Online Registration Application Form?
A. The steps are defined or available in the Registration Guideline deployed on the Online Student Portal http://student.nielit.gov.in

Q.   How much is the registration fee?
A. One time non refundable Registration fee is Rs.500/- at any Level and should be paid through CSCs and online method.

Q. What are the cut-off dates for submitting the registration application form?
A. Registration is open throughout the year; however cut-off dates are there to process the application forms for any particular examination. The current schedule of cut-off dates of filled-in online registration application form at NIELIT (H.Q.) New Delhi:

However Accredited Institutes are allowed to submit the Registration Application Form of their candidates one month beyond the cut-off dates.

Concerned Institutes / Direct Candidates are advised to strictly adhere to the cut-off dates w.r.t. online submission of properly filled in online registration forms along with relevant eligibility documents so as to reach the NIELIT (Hq.). It may be noted that, registration application form received after the cut-off dates will not be considered for processing for the ensuing examination under any circumstances.

Q. How can I know whether my application has been considered or not?
A. List of newly registered candidate is made available at our student portal, http://student.nielit.gov.in from August and February onwards for January and July exams respectively. Candidate can see/check your registration application status from time to time on clicking on ‘Certification/Courses => level=> Check Application Status by entering application no. and date of birth in the student portal

Q. My registration application was rejected(Kept -in-Abeyance), what to do next? 
A.  If your registration application was rejected due to any deficiency, you will be given a chance to rectify the deficiencies by complying with the required document within a scheduled time period. To re-consider your application, submit the necessary compliance through email at regn[at]nielit[dot]gov[dot]in or by post.

Q.   Can I get the registration fee back, in case my application is rejected?
A. One time non refundable Registration fee is the charges against the Registration Application process. One time non refundable Registration fee is neither refundable nor adjustable against any other payments/purpose.

Q. If I missed the last date of registration, can I go for the same by paying some late fee or penalty?
A. There is no such provision as yet.

Q. I have cleared first 10 papers of B level. Can I get “A” level certificate?
A. Yes, “A” level is a sub-set of “B” Level and you can get “A” Level certificate after clearing theory papers , practical and project corresponding to “A” level under “B” level syllabus.

Payment of Registration Fees:

Q. What are the different methods of making payment for Registration? 
A. There are three methods available:
   (i) Online : Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card.
   (ii) CSC-SPV .
   (iii) NEFT/RTGS .

Q. I do not have credit/debit cards. How can I make the payment?
A. You pay the fee at any CSC (Common Service Centre) who can make payment on behalf of you. After filling the registration form, you get a Demand note Number for use the facility. 

Q. How do I pay the registration fees on-line? Can I use internet banking?
A. Payment of registration fees through internet banking is permitted. You can also make payment of registration fees by using Net Banking available under Pay Online option. 

Q. Can I make payment of Registration fees by DD along with online forms?
A. No. Payment of registration fees by DD is not permitted along with online forms. You have to make online payment by using credit/debit cards/net banking/CSC Services only. 

Q. How an institute can make a payment for group of candidates together? 
A. The institute is required to login in the NIELIT Portal, http://student.nielit.gov.in and login in the Institute Login Page, Click on option Pending payment and verification of the Registration Application Form. In the next window, Select the candidates via check box and click on make payment. After that a demand note will be generated for these candidates and then payment can be made using any of payment method. 

Q. I have finally submitted Online Registration Application within Cut-off date through Institute. Can institute verify and make payment after that ?
A. As per the Student Portal, institute can verify their candidates and make fee payment only within the Cut-off date even if you have submitted application on last day. Institute will be online dispatch the Online Registration Form within the Cut-off date of Registration.

Q. I have been registered through an Accredited Institute, Can I pay my registration fee myself/ directly? 
A. Yes, you can pay the fees yourself by selecting the options in the section Fill the registration Details of the registration form.

Q. Can I choose the Accredited Institute option without contact the institute? 
A. You will be contact the accredited institute before filling of online registration/Re-registration/ Transfer of Registration application form.

Transfer/ Shifting of registration

 

Q.  How can I Transfer my Registration from one level to another?
 Or
What happens when a candidate applies for Registration at another level without qualifying all papers of a particular level at which he is already registered?
A. For transfer of Registration the candidate has to filled the online Registration application form (after creation of user login at www.student.nielit.gov.in) duly completed indicating the current Registration number and level along with all supporting documents and requisite fee.If the candidate has not cleared all the papers/practical/project as applicable to the level to which he/she is already Registered he/she will not be getting any benefits of the papers already cleared.

Q.  I am a direct candidate. Am I eligible to Register as direct candidate at the next higher level immediately after clearing the current level?
A. To register at the next higher level, you have to fulfil the eligibility criteria for the next higher level at the time of seeking Registration with respect to educational qualification and experience.

Q.  I am Registered for O/A/B level but yet to clear the level. Can I Register for the next higher level?
A. If you are eligible for the next higher level you could get Registered for that level after cancelling the existing Registration number. However, you will not be given any chance to clear the left over paper of the previous level as your registration for the lower level will not be valid any more.

Q.   I have cleared all theory papers of O/A/B level but left with practical papers. Am I eligible to Register for next higher Level?
A. No. You have to clear all theory and practical papers as well as projects for shifting to the next higher Level.

Q.   How to apply for transfer of registration from lower level to higher level ?
A. The Procedure for applying for transfer of level is similar to fresh registration but while applying for transfer of level, the candidate must create his / her User ID on Online Student Portal http://student.nielit.gov.in and must apply from user Dashboard 

Q.   I have cleared all theory and practical papers but left with project. Can I Register for the next higher level?
A. No. You have to clear all theory and practical papers as well as projects for shifting to the next higher Level.

Validity of Registration:

Q.   What is the validity period of Registration of different Levels?
A. Registration for “O” and “A” level is valid for 10 (ten) consecutive examinations i.e. 5 years and “B” / “C” level is valid for 12 (Twelve) consecutive examinations i.e. 6 years.

Q.  Is a candidate required to seek Registration for every Examination?
A. No, Registration for each Examination is not required till the Registration number allotted for the level concerned is valid.

Q.   What is the remedy if a candidate fails to qualify all papers within the validity period of the Registration?
 OR
What is Re-Registration / Transfer of credit? How can a candidate get Re-Registered? What is the impact of Re-Registration on the papers already qualified?
A. If a candidate fails to qualify all papers of a particular Level within the validity period of the Registration, he/she has to Re-Register and appear for the remaining papers. Validity of the Registration will then be extended for one time another full term i.e. 5/6 years to clear the left-out papers/project/practical’s. One can apply for Re-Registration within a one year after the expiry of the validity of his/her registration.

Q.   What are components to be cleared during the validity period of Registration?

A. All theory papers, all applicable practical papers and projects will have to be cleared during the validity period of Registration No.

Q.   How to apply for Re-registration in O/A/B/C level ?

A. The Procedure for applying for Re-registration is similar to fresh registration but while applying for re-registration the candidate must create his / her User ID on Online Student Portal http://student.nielit.gov.in

Q.   When Can I do the Re-registration?

A. The candidate must apply for re-registration within one year after expiry of validity period of Registration.

Q.   Is Registration No. should be active for clearing any projects?

A. To clear any projects or practical or any theory papers, Registration No. must be live or active.

Q.   What should I do when the validity period of my Registration No. has expired?

A. If you have not availed the one time Re-registration option, you can apply for re-registration within one year of expiry of validity period of Registration No.

Q.   After doing Re-registration, How long will be validity period of Registration No.?

A. Re-registration will give you another full term validity period of that particular level i.e For O and A level – 5 years and B and C level – 6 years

Changes in Students data

Q.  How can I change the level of Registration without clearing of current level?
A. For changing the level without clearing of current level, the candidate has to register afresh inside your online user ID dashboard on http://student.nielit.gov.in

Q.   How to change my name in your database?
A. Send plain application in case of surname change consequent upon marriage of female candidate. Submit affidavit signed in front of Oath Commissioner or a First Class Magistrate/Executive Magistrate, in case change in name on own volition. Requests for change of name based on Notary affidavits or Newspaper advertisement alone shall not be accepted.

Q.  How to get correction/addition done in my various particulars like Name / Father’s name/ Mother’s name/ e-mail Id/ Phone numbers/ Date of Birth etc.?

Q.  How to get my address changed?

 Please note that, request send for change of address of candidates by accredited institute will not be considered.

Registration Allocation-cum-Identity Card

Q.  I am yet to get any I-card issued to me by the NIELIT?
A. Send an application to the NIELIT quoting your Registration number. Further, the candidate may send a separate application to change/correct the address, if it has been changed since he/she has Registered with the NIELIT.

Q.  I have lost my I-card. How can I get a duplicate I-card?
A. For issuing of duplicate I-card, apply to NIELIT with the following documents:

1.     Request on a plain paper mentioning your Registration number with a copy F.I.R. of the lost Candidate’s Identity Card (CIC) in case of lost CIC and a Demand Draft of Rs.100/- favouring NIELIT, Payable at New Delhi. Please write your Registration Number and Name in Capital Letters in the backside of the DD without fail, which should have a validity of Three months

                       OR
b) in case of Faulty /mutilation of I-Card, Please Surrender the Mutilated/ Faulty CIC in original issued to you with a request. 

Further, the candidate may send a different application to change/correction of the address, if it has been changed since he/she has registered with the NIELIT.

Q.  I am yet to get the I-card/CIC from the NIELIT. The exam is nearer. How can I be allowed to give the exam?
A.   Identity Cards will be issued to all newly Registered candidates , If for any reason, a candidate did not get the I-card till the examination, he/she can take along with him/herself any valid government issued photo I-card like Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Passport, Pan Card, Voter I-card etc to the examination hall as your identity proof.
If the candidates don’t possess any of the above said cards, he/she can take the identity card issued by the accredited institute, provided it bears the photograph of the candidate and seal and sign of the competent authority of the institute.

Q.  Is the courses offered by the NIELIT, are recognized by the Government?
A.  Yes, Level O/A/B is duly recognized by Govt.of India. Please visit For (O/A) LevelFor (B Level) and For (C Level)..
 Recognition of C level is under process.

Q.   What are the fees to be paid to the NIELIT for different purposes?
A. You have to pay fees for different purpose as follows:
 Registration, any level (By CSCs and Online method): Rs. 500/-
 Examination: Rs.500/- X no. of papers + Rs. 100/- (Application Processing Charge) 
 Practical (per practical): Rs 300/-
 Practical (per practical): Rs 300/-
 Project: O level: Only project Completion Certificate, No fees
 A Level: Rs.500/-
 B/ C Level: Rs.3000/-

 Fee charged by the institutes for different courses depends on the locality, facilities and infrastructures provided by the institutes.

Q. Where can I get any institute accredited by NIELIT, in my locality?
