In the quest of innovation & capacity building in the areas of Information, Electronics & Communication Technologies (IECT) and with a mission to empower students & professionals in their becoming excellent human resources and to contribute to the scientific and industrial development of the country, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) , Gorakhpur has acquired the status of one of the premier institution in North India..

The Centre (erstwhile Centre for Electronics Design and Technology-CEDT) was established as Centre for Electronics Design & Technology of India (CEDTI) in June, 1989. Since then the Centre is engaged in the conduction of industry oriented quality education and training in the state-of-the-art areas through various formal and non formal courses. The centre is also engaged in R & D as well as product development and industrial consultancy services.

With a vision to become the leader in the development of industry oriented quality education and training, NIELIT Gorakhpur is making all the right moves. In association with UPTU Lucknow, the centre is offering M.Tech. in Electronics Design & Technology and M.Tech. in VLSI Design, duly approved by AICTE.In addition to the above, various PG Diploma programs & Certificate courses in specialized areas of Electronics & IT are regularly conducted by the Centre. These courses are aimed to provide value addition to formal degree programs to improve the employment opportunities and bridge the gap between the regular academic programs and industrial requirement.

NIELIT has a rich tradition of pursuing academic excellence, practical oriented training and providing a conducive environment for overall development. In addition to excellent teaching, abundant infrastructure, the faculty members are actively involved in projects and consultancy. A large number of research and consultancy projects have been undertaken, several of them being of technical innovation and social relevance. The training programs offered are comprehensive and are continuously being updated to keep pace with latest developments and innovations. Newer programs, at postgraduate level are planned to be added in accordance with academic needs and industry requirements. We also undertake various projects for the uplift of community, especially the rural community through employment oriented skill development programs.
