NIELIT Deemed-to-Be University, the only university under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), was inaugurated on 03.01.2025 at 12 locations. The event was jointly presided over by Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, during a ceremony held in Guwahati. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General of NIELIT, whose leadership continues to steer NIELIT's vision of excellence. 
As one of the constituent campuses, the inauguration of NIELIT Patna marked a significant milestone for the NIELIT in advancing technology and education across the country. This event highlights the University’s dedication to fostering innovation, promoting research excellence, and empowering the nation’s youth. 
The Patna event was graced by esteemed dignitaries from IIT Patna, along with distinguished college heads and school principals, whose participation added prestige to this historic occasion.
