Swachhta Pakhwada at NIELIT Calicut

Observance of Swachhta Pakhwada at NIELIT Calicut

The Swachhta Pakhwada was observed at NIELIT Calicut from 1st to 15th November 2016.

The following activities were undertaken in the Centre during the Swachhta Pakhwada :

* A special meeting of Group Heads was held on 31st October 16 to discuss about the activities to be undertaken in the Centre in connection with the observance of the Swachhta Pakhwada. After deliberations various activities were proposed and Officers were assigned various duties.

* A circular was issued to all employees in the Centre for observance of Swachhta Pakhwada during 1st to 15th November 2016, in order to ensure an improved work culture and work environment including hygiene and cleanliness of the workplace.

* The observance of Swachhta Pakhwada began with a pledge taking ceremony on cleanliness by all employees of the Centre on 1st of November 2016.

* The housekeeping personnel of the Centre carried out an intensive cleanliness drive throughout the Campus, Hostels and surrounding areas, common areas like toilet, common corridors, stair case, outside lawns on all days from 1st to 15th of November 16 and new dustbins were installed.

* Banners and Posters were being displayed at prominent places inside the Centre to create awareness of the Need for a Cleaner India on 2nd Nov 16. 

* Lamps in executive hostel were replaced with energy efficient LED lights on 3rd and 4th. Proposal initiated to replace the aging CFL street lights with energy efficient LED lights.

* An awareness campaign for the Staff on the importance of reducing air pollution through vehicle emission was held on 7th 

* A meeting was conducted on 9th Nov 16 by the Executive Director to review the status of the activities related to Swachhta Pakhwada .

* A Pencil drawing competition for the School going children of Nearby Localities on 9th November 2016. Students from five schools took part in the competition. The Participation Certificates were distributed by the Executive Director, NIELIT Calicut.

* The Bus Shelter near the Campus was renovated by replacing roofing sheets and painting the structure during 9th, 10th and 11th and surroundings were cleaned. 

* The Workshop scrap was removed and the open well in the centre and surroundings were cleaned on 14th and 15th. 

* A clean campus drive by all staff members and students was led by the Executive Director in order to clean the Campus and instill an awareness of a clean India, on 9th and 10th November 2016.

* All the activities carried out in the Centre along with the photographs were uploaded in the SwachhtaPakhwada site and the NIELIT Calicut site.


SwachhtaPakhwada Pledge taking ceremony

The observance of Swachhta Pakhwada began with a Pledge taking ceremony on cleanliness on 1st of November 2016 which was administered by the Executive Director to all employees of the Centre. The Executive Director stressed the importance the observance.

Banners and Posters were being displayed at prominent places inside the Centre so that all are constantly aware of the Need for a Cleaner India. A collage of the posters displayed is shown here:


Renovation of the Bus Shelter near the Campus

The neighboring Bus Shelter was renovated by replacing the roofing sheets and repainting during this period. The Bus stop is frequently used by the local citizens and the neighboring school students and staff. The renovation has given a new look to the shelter. All the users are happy about it.

 

 

 


Cleaning Near the Entrance

The housekeeping personnel in the Centre carried out an intensive cleanliness drive throughout the Campus including the Entrance. The cleaning campaign has given a new cleaner look for the surroundings of the entrance.


Cleaning the Well and its surroundings

The open well in the Centre and its surroundings were cleaned thoroughly. The well supplies all the water requirements of the centre and the hostels in the main campus.  


Campus II Cleaning

The Campus II which includes the Boys Hostel was cleaned.


Special cleaning activities

As part of observation of Swachhta Pakhwada at NIELIT Calicut, special cleaning activities were undertaken in and around Office premises and Hostels from November 1, 2016 onwards. Entire areas of Campus-I was cleaned on 9th November with the involvement of staff members and students. Similarly, the Campus-II areas were cleaned on 10th November with the active involvement of NIELIT students and staff members. The cleaning work included removal of waste materials and plastic items, bushes and dried wood branches, etc. from both the campuses. Caps, hand-gloves, etc. sponsored jointly by NIELIT Calicut Recreation Club and Canara Bank, Mukkom, were distributed to all the participants. Tea and refreshments were arranged for the participants after the cleaning work. Some photographs taken during the occasion are placed below.  


Pencil drawing competition for the School children

A Pencil drawing competition for the School going children of Nearby Localities on 9 November 2016. Students from five schools took part in the competition. The Participation Certificates were distributed by the Executive Director, Nielit Calicut.

The prizes are as follows:

1st prize - Anjana Nair S (!Xth std., Spring Valley School, Chathamangalam)

2nd Prize - Anjana L (IXth std., Spring Valley School, Chathamangalam)

3rd Prize - FiniyaFathima (IXth std., Dayapuram Residential School, Kattangal)

Prizes will be distributed on 17th of November 2016 at 04:30PM, @ Nielit Calicut.

 

 


Awareness campaign on Air pollution through Vehicle emission

Awareness Campaign on reducing air pollution As a part of the Swachhta Pakhwada the staff were made aware of the importance of reducing air pollution through vehicle emissions. They were asked to test their vehicle pollution in order to keep the vehicle emission within the prescribed limits. A List of nearby Pollution Under Control testing facilities were communicated, along with the average charges. The staff were also alerted on the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. Various Posters were used to communicate the need for Vehicle Pollution Control. A collage of the posters used for the Campaign is given below:
