Skill Oriented Training leading to Employability

Introduction
India aspires to become a knowledge economy with a global role. Technologies have moved from electrified to automated, to digitalized manufacturing, such as big data and analytics, autonomous robots, IoT, cyber security and augmented reality are transforming the manufacturing landscape. Having the right people in place is critical to leveraging technological gain, and to realizing the goals of Smart Manufacturing. According to the U.S. Department of Education, “60 percent of the new jobs that will emerge in the 21st century will require skills possessed by only 20 percent of the current workforce.” In case of India situation is even worse.
The Government of India is also aiming to increase the share of manufacturing to 25 percent of the GDP from the present 17 percent, with a view of creating millions of jobs and pushing the country's economic growth. The focus is to promote indigenous manufacturing in the entire value-chain of ESDM thus skilled manpower is required that can use technology to develop electronic products catering to domestic needs at affordable price points. The Indian economy has achieved a growth rate of around 8% over the last decade, and the contribution of IT Sector to this growth is significant. In today’s technological era, the cyber security is the cornerstone of a safe digital society and there is an increasing demand for cyber security skilled professionals to tackle the evolution of threats that affects businesses, privacy and lives. Moreover, the Indian Government's plan of developing 100 smart cities in the country is leading to a massive and quick expansion of IoT ecosystem in the country.

Manpower Requirement as per Government Policy Documents

1. The National Policy on Electronics of Ministry Electronics and IT (MeitY) aims to create an eco-system for a globally competitive ESDM sector in the country to achieve a turnover of about USD 400 Billion by 2020 involving investment of about USD 100 Billion and employment to around 2.8 crore people at various levels.

2. The National policy on IT of MeitY aims to increase revenues of IT and ITES Industry from 100 Billion USD at present to 300 Billion USD by 2020 and to expand exports from 69 Billion USD at present to 200 Billion USD by 2020. Target is to create a pool of 1 crore additional skilled manpower in ICT with core competencies in Coding, testing, Cloud Computing, AI, Block-Chain and Networking.

3. The National Policy on Cyber Security of MeitY aims to Increase the number of organization (546 at present) in the country which have obtained the ISO 27001 certification. and to create a workforce of 5 lakh professionals (from 65000 presently) skilled in cyber security in the next 5 years through capacity building, skill development and training.

4. The IoT Policy Document of MeitY (draft) proposes to create an IoT industry in India of USD 15 billion by 2020 and to increase the connected devices in the country from around 200 million to over 2.7 billion by 2020. s per Gartner Report the total revenue generated from IoT industry would be USD 300 billion and the connected devices would be 27 billion by 2020 globally. It has been assumed that India would have a share of 5-6% of global IoT industry.

Industry Requirements
Software is driving the advances in today’s manufacturing, and this means that the mouse is replacing the wrench in many places on today’s factory floor. Industries are IoT/Cyber Physical Systems for production and are now based on machines that can predict failures and trigger maintenance processes autonomously.

Electronics, IT and IoT are the largest growing sectors in today’s age and cover vast areas in the engineering field. It is not possible for an individual to become an expert in all the fields. There is a demand of specialized skill and expertise in a specific area. You can get a job in whatever field you're good at and if you love your work there you're sure to go a long way.

Moreover, Companies are demanding and preferred to hire a candidate who knows some features programming language rather than those who is conventionally graduated and did just less than nothing as extra-curricular. The Centre suggest that instead for aiming for the core companies or such, look for your passion and field that intrigues you and forces you to work harder.

Also, if getting into core companies is your aim, the key is Minor /Major /Mini Projects where students will get the chance to learn all the requisite hardware/software components enabling them to develop a complete product on their own. The Centre is providing opportunities for the candidates for the same.
Targeted Emerging Areas for creating Industry Ready manpower
The Centre is working hard to skill candidates to make them future ready through a bouquet wide range of helpful job-oriented Post Graduate Diploma, Diploma and Short-Term courses being offered by this Centre that provide deep knowledge and also improve technical skills of candidates in related field within limited time period which is essential in getting a high paying job of choice. Pursuing such courses will also broadens the knowledge of candidates about the industry’s market expectations.
Some Areas where Job oriented courses are being offered by this Centre are:
1. Cyber Security & Digital Forensics – This field covers skilling to understand the recovery and counter measures against malicious attacks. Also, requisite skills are required to gather data without tampering of device and to gather forensics evidence that is admissible in court of law and can further help the law enforcement agencies to resolve cyber-crime cases.
2. Embedded Systems – It is a relatively new job area that merges electrical engineering and computer science but the job prospects for this is quite high. Embedded Systems (start from very basic like 8051 processor and move up the ladder to AVR, Arduino, Raspberry Pi and other development boards)
3. Robotics – This field has immense job prospects in microchips manufacture industry, space research organisations medical and automotive industries for making experimental robotics, etc.
4. CADD – CADD certificate programs are for design professional to get hands on experience in state of art CAD technology using design tools viz CAD/CAM/CAE catering to the demand of Automotive & Aerospace engineering.
5. CCNAThese Courses are widely respected IT certification programs that are available through Cisco Career Certifications and they allow you to get high paying jobs. These courses require state-of-art facility for providing practical exposure so that candidates have competence to resolve networking issues when placed in reputed Industries. The Centre is authorized CISCO academy for CCNA (Routing & Switching) and CCNA (Cyber Security and Operation).
6. Very-Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) – The primary objective of courses in this area is to analyse the electrical and design characteristics of transistors, gates. Secondly, to learn the methodologies involved in the integration of these devices into complex high-performance systems.
7. PCB Designing – PCB refers to Printed Circuit Board. The process of PCB designing consists of various processes like designing, etching, printing etc. The combination of all these processes result in designing of circuits on a signal boards layout. For an electronics engineering graduate student, PCB Designing is great field to get a job in PCB Design or PCB manufacturing companies.
8. Networking – Computer networking course is designed to get the placement in good MNC companies. It includes networking LAN, WAN training.
9. Mobile Application Development using Android – There is a huge demand for Mobile Applications using Android as the platform for increasing businesses. The field includes usage of Android Studio, the integrated development environment (IDE) for Android apps, Android application components, Activities and their lifecycle, UI design, Multimedia, Graphics, Database and networking support.
10. Internet of Things – This field covers the development of Internet of Things (IoT) products and services—including devices for sensing, actuation, processing, and communication—to help you develop skills and experiences you can employ in designing novel systems. Key objectives of IoT courses is on imparting skills on methodologies to design, build, and deploy IoT solutions. using widely accepted IoT frameworks and standards.
11. Industrial Automation – Industrial automation is the use of control systems, such as computers or robots, and information technologies for handling different processes and machineries in an industry to replace a human being. This field is aimed at equipping a student with knowledge of sensors, DAQ measurement hardware, configuring, programming and operating Industrial automation systems with the use of Industrial Field Instruments, PLCs and SCADA/ HMI.
