NIELIT Centre Srinagar/Jammu, a premier organization in the field IT-HRD, was setup under the aegis of   Centre for Electronic Design and Technology of India (CEDTI), in 1982. The Centre has its presence in   both Jammu as well Srinagar. At Srinagar, it is located at SIDCO Electronics Complex, Rangreth on a 7.5   acres picturesque Campus with a built-up area of 33,000 sq.ft. The Jammu Centre is located on the New   Campus of the University of Jammu with a built-up area of 22,000 sq. Ft.

It has carved a niche for itself by imparting quality IT education by running NIELIT accredited courses in   Software and Hardware like ‘O’, ‘A’ & ‘B’ level (MCA equivalent). In addition, the centre is involved in   conducting various Industrial/Summer training programmes, short term training programmes and   corporate training programmes in the field of IT & Electronics. Emphasis has been on designing courses in the latest and emerging technologies, like Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, IoT, etc. In addition, the centre boasts of running various Formal Courses like MCA, M.Sc (IT), BCA and B.Sc (IT) in affiliation with University of Kashmir. Providing Quality Education using the state of the art infrastructure has been the motto of the centre. Further, it has academic tie-up with CISCO for offering CCNA & CCNP programs. NIELIT plays an important role in reaching out to the masses in far-flung areas to spread and enhance IT literacy, thereby helping in bridging the Digital Divide.

The Centre emerged as a front-runner consultancy organization for the Govt. of J&K in the implementation of e-Governance projects and has been designated as technical advisors to the Govt. of J&K since 2002.

Now, with New Education Policy NEP – 2020 in place, the centre intends to play a very important and major role. It is envisaged that NIELIT J & K can contribute towards Vocational Training and Skill Enhancement-the key parameters that have taken the central stage at every step of formal education. It is a matter of great importance that the median age of India's population is between 28 to 29 years, and over 62 per cent of the population is between 15 and 59 years of age. The demographic dividend is the potential economic growth from such a population structure wherein NIELIT can play a very large and constructive role.

It is felt, that NIELIT J & K, with a highly trained and strong workforce, would be able to cater to the needs of local populace and Govt. of J & K.

My sincere and heartfelt wishes to all the stakeholders (students, government departments and industry) of NIELIT J & K. God Bless.

 Sh. Deepak Wasan
