The Model Career Centre at NIELIT, Calicut has conducted a Mega Job Fair on 28th January 2017 at Malabar Christian College Kozhikode, Kerala in collaboration with NCS Centre for SC/STs, Society for Integrated Growth, Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Malabar Christian College. Mr Ramachandran P G, SREO, NCS Centre for SC/STs, Trivandrum welcomed everybody to the job fair. The fair was inaugurated by Hon Member of Parliament, Mr M K Ragahavan and presided over by Mr. A N Radhakrishnan, President, SIGN. Dr M P Pillai, Executive Director, NIELIT, Calicut delivered the key note address. The job fair was intended for job seekers with qualification from 5th standard to Post graduate level. 43 private companies including Larson & Tubro (L&T), Aster MIMS, Baby Memorial Hospital, HDFC Life, Eureka Forbes Limited, Indus Motors, Green line Management consultants, Malabar group, Axis Bank, Future group & Eram Motors participated in the fair for which around 4000 job vacancies were made available. Around 6100 job seekers participated in the job fair. At the end of the day 1918 job seekers were short listed for placement by various employers.
The MCC@NIELIT, Calicut made elaborate arrangements for registration of job seekers in the NCS Portal and about 380 job seekers utilized the facility. Officers from various Government departments like NORKA Roots, SC/ST development corporation - Kerala, Women Development Corporation - Kerala, NCS centre for differently abled-Govt. of India, Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, MoT – Govt. of India were also present to give awareness of Government schemes in their respective area. Even though there was a huge crowd in the venue the Mega fair was incident free and conducted in a professional manner by the organizing team and more than 100 volunteers. Upon registration, each job seeker was given four coupons to attend four interviews depending upon his/her qualification.
